Our local community groups and organisations play an important role in connecting our community. They also help develop vibrant, diverse and resilient communities.

The City of Mandurah is committed to financially supporting community groups through the delivery of a grants and donations program. 

Here are the grants available to support our community.

Grant programs

The next funding round for our Community Grants Program is open from 2 September to 14 October 2024.

We're supporting local not-for-profit groups to help deliver projects, events and creative ideas that increase community capacity, engagement, participation or skills and training in Mandurah.

Local community groups are now invited to apply for funding up to $5000 to help our community. Applicants will be notified of the outcome within six (6) weeks of the closing date. Projects need to address at least one of the following objectives:

Support for Mandurah’s most vulnerable communities

  • Build capacity of community organisations and resident associations
  • Increase volunteering, including capacity and training within the City of Mandurah
  • Improve access to technology for education and training within the City of Mandurah
  • Celebrate and encourage cultural diversity and social inclusion
  • Create opportunities for localised smaller scale events (within allowed government restrictions)
  • Youth development initiatives that build capacity and support leadership ability
  • Celebrate Mandurah through arts and culture
  • Build neighbourhood connection and linkages
  • Celebrate and highlight local Indigenous culture.

The City of Mandurah is committed to financially supporting community groups and organisations through its Community Partnership Fund.

The 2024 funding round is open from 8 July 2024 and will close on 19 August 2024 at 4pm

The Community Partnership Fund is designed to partner with Not-For-Profit organisations to deliver programs, services or projects that provide a community benefit, which would not be possible with only one year’s funding.

The Community Partnership Fund aims:

  • to increase community access to programs and services
  • to align organisations priorities with the City’s Strategic Community Plan 2020-2040.

The annual contribution granted will be at the discretion of the assessment panel, based on benefit to residents, community need and value for money.  If successful, funding will be provided in annual payments for up to three financial years.

Apply now for our Community Grants Program

Funds are available to assist non-profit recreation clubs and community groups located within the City of Mandurah to conduct community based events that encourage participation, engage local businesses and add vibrancy to the area.

Items that may be eligible for funding support include:

  • First Aid
  • Promotion and Advertising
  • Traffic Management
  • Waste Management (bins)
  • Portable Toilets
  • Shade/Shelters and temporary infrastructure
  • Venue Hire Fees for City of Mandurah facilities, parks and reserves
  • Security

The grant will open in August until funds for the financial year have all been allocated. 

Please note:

  • The maximum annual amount available is up to $3,000 (exc. GST) for any eligible organisation
  • The total grant funding pool available for the 2024-25 financial year is $30,000 (exc. GST)

The application guidelines will assist you in submitting your application.

Please note events with large participation numbers which promote Mandurah as a tourist destination, and creates opportunity for multiple overnight stays, may be eligible to apply for external event attraction support funding.

The purpose of this funding is to attract and assist external event organisers deliver mass participation events in Mandurah that demonstrate significant economic benefit to the local community and businesses by increasing tourism opportunities, attracting intrastate, interstate and international visitation, providing increased promotional opportunities, encouraging overnight visitation and return stays, proven increased economic benefit to local businesses, and adding vibrancy to the City’s calendar of events. The City will assess and make recommendations on all funding request up to $20,000. For funding requests greater than $20,000 the City will submit a report to Council for approval.

The Community Event Support Grant may be more suitable for smaller events run by local organisations

Kidsport – A State and Local Government Initiative Subsidy Program

Sport and Recreation WA partnered with the City of Mandurah offering Families an subsidy up to $500 towards their child’s registration and sporting fees.

KidSport applications are available online if you hold a valid Health Care or Pensioner Concession card.  

If you don't have access to a computer?

The City of Mandurah has a tablet on a stand situated at the Customer Service Counter in the main Administration Building at 3 Peel Street, that can also be used to submit online applications. A valid Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card must be photographed by the tablet whilst the application form is being completed.

Eligible criteria

  • Applicants must be between the age of 5 and 18 years
  • Applicant must have a Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card
  • Applicants must be currently residing in the Local Government area they are applying for

Other useful information

  • Funding will cover the cost of fees to join the nominated sport or recreation club or go towards uniform / equipment costs. 
  • Maximum of up to $500 per child between 1 July - 30 June.
  • Fees are only for the nominated registered season
  • No retrospective fees will be paid.
  • No limitation to the number of applications per family as long as the eligibility criteria for each child is met.
  • Includes swimming lessons

KidSport Financial Assessors

KidSport Financial Assessors are professional employees at agencies who provide support services for families. They will assess a family's financial situation against the four KidSport Financial Exceptions and submit a KidSport application, to the Department, on their behalf.

Eligible sporting and recreation clubs have the opportunity to apply for $700 to go towards items that promote community led initiatives and build local capacity and capability.

The eligibility criteria and funding allocation is outlined in the application guidelines.

The Club Grant is made available annually to all Mandurah sport and recreation clubs in recognition of the important role clubs play in our community and is one of the many initiatives delivered by the City which supports the development of local sport and recreation clubs.

This Fund supports the ideas and dreams of young people living in Mandurah aged 11 - 25.

The Youth Dream Big Fund is designed to support young people achieve something great. This may be to achieve a specific goal or dream or further develop a skill or talent.

Applications are welcome from individuals and organisations all year:

  • Individuals can apply for up to $350.

  • Organisations can apply for up to $700 to contribute toward a specific program or activity that develops young people.

The fund is open all year round, subject to funding availability. Please view the guidelines and application form.

The Nikki Wise Community Services Memorial Scholarship is provided by the City of Mandurah to honour the legacy of Nikki Wise. Nikki was devoted to helping those in need and sadly passed in September 2016. This annual scholarship will assist other passionate members of the Mandurah community wishing to study in the area of community services with $2000 being awarded to one successful applicant annually to go towards tuition fees.

The scholarship will be available for 1 round per year. The funding round application are open from 29 March - 07 May 2021

Apply for the Nikki Wise Scholarship

The Outstanding Representative Grant is a City of Mandurah initiative supporting athletes, coaches and officials chosen to represent at a state, national or international sporting level. 

Eligible athletes, officials or coaches can receive funding for out-of-pocket travel and accommodation expenses directly related to the competition. The eligibility criteria and assessment is outlined in the application guidelines.

Grant amount

The maximum grant available to individuals if the competition is interstate is $300 and capped at $1000 for representatives from the same club requesting funding for the same competition in any one financial year.  

Applications open July 1 and close mid-June the following year. The table below shows the rounds of grant assessments. Notification is given within 28 days after the closure of each round.

Apply for an Outstanding Representative Grant

The benefit of this initiative is to encourage and support clubs through the process of developing a planning document such as a strategic plan, operational plan, or business plan. The program aims to address the following areas of concern:

  • The importance of future planning in clubs to ensure sustainability into the future.
  • Providing the opportunity to educate committee members about the importance of strategic planning.
  • To address the perception that Strategic Planning or Future Planning is too hard or unnecessary.
Grant Amount

The maximum amount of funding available is up to $2,500 per club with 50% matched funding required by the club.

Grants will be available until all funds (total amount annual pool of $10,000) are exhausted or as otherwise advised by the City.
