The CASM Application Program includes an annual exhibition program and studio residency program in combination with singular cultural events and engagement opportunities.

It is guided by a commitment to cultural diversity and aims to support emerging and mid-career contemporary artists. Applications are invited from groups, pairs and solo artists. 

Current applications

CASM Gallery seeks applications for exhibitions, events and curatorial projects for our gallery space located at 63 Ormsby Terrace Mandurah.

Proposals are open to individual artists, artist groups, and curators. We support applications from emerging and mid-career artists who explore innovative and contemporary arts practice. Successful exhibition applicants (solo and group) will receive a flat payment of $1,500 toward the development of new works and exhibition costs. Spaces are limited to three per year, and selection is competitive.

Applications are assessed by a selection panel comprised of both internal staff and independent arts professionals. The gallery curator is available to discuss applications prior to submission by phone or at the Gallery by prior appointment.

Application Pack

In an age of technology and industry growth the topic of visibility/invisibility intersects social culture as well as scientific investigation.  

The curatorial concept is broad allowing for personal interpretation and freedom of investigation.

This is an Expression of Interest allowing an opportunity for individual artists and artist group collaborations to participate in the (In)Visible exhibition to be displayed at CASM from 13 September to 19 October 2025.

The Masterpieces Art Competition and Exhibition is an annual event in which local artists aged between 12 and 25 years of age are presented with an opportunity to have their artwork exhibited in a professional gallery. In doing this, the gallery is able to exhibit a collection of artworks that explore the current interests and perspectives of the community's creative youths. 

The artworks may utilise a wide variety of mediums, including painting, drawing and digital media, and entries are judged across three separate age categories; 12-15yrs, 16-18yrs and 19-25yrs. Awards for winning entrants include cash and prizes to a total value of $2000.

CASM Gift Shop presents a curated selection of contemporary, innovative, unique, high quality and locally made artworks.

CASM invites new, emerging and established artists based in Mandurah and the wider Peel region to apply to become CASM Gift Shop artists.

Applications can be made online at any time. Before applying, please read the Terms and Conditions carefully. All artworks are held on consignment.

Along with your application, you will need to submit an artist statement (50-100 words), describing your artistic practice and/or profile, along with five to eight high-quality image files of your artwork and details of the materials used, size and price.

The CASM studio residency program aims to support emerging contemporary artists to build a body of work in a comfortable and engaging environment.

CASM has one x 15 square metre studio space near the beautiful Mandurah Estuary. The studio is within the main gallery where artists have full access to all facilities and has a balance of natural and fluorescent lighting with shelving provided. Artists are invited to apply for a three month residency in the studio, Jan-Mar, April-June, July-Sept or Oct-Dec.

Terms and conditions

Youth Residency Program

CASM has one x 15 square metre studio space available for a three month period for the Youth residency.

The youth residency program is fully funded by the generous support of Headspace Mandurah and includes opportunities for exhibiting work and individual support with a creative mentor.

The gallery provides:

  • Good lighting with a combination of full studio-length windows and fluorescent lighting
  • Reverse cycled air-conditioning
  • Kitchen and toilet facilities
  • Studio access for artists from 6am till 10pm daily

CASM encourages application of the following eligible candidates:

  • Graduate artists
  • Emerging artists (artists not yet endorsed by leading galleries)
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists
  • Students enrolled in their final year of tertiary art

Please note: Successful applicants' residencies may start at different times of the year depending on the completion dates of the previous resident artist.

How long are the studio residencies?

The CASM Studio Residency Program offers three month artist studio residencies:  

  • January-March
  • April-June
  • July-Sept
  • October-December

Your responsibilities

If successful for the CASM Studio Program you will be required to:

  • Abide by the Studio Hire Agreement between yourself and CASM
  • Spend 20 hours per week actively pursuing your creative practice in the CASM studio
  • Pay your monthly invoices on time
  • Respect the CASM premise at all times
  • Provide current information and images for marketing purposes
  • Communicate regularly with CASM during your residency
  • Be available for one studio open day during your residency – usually during the annual Mandurah Stretch Arts Festival in May
  • Request any changes to your residency dates two weeks in advance in writing.

CASM responsibilities

If successful, during the studio program CASM will:

  • Abide by the Studio Hire Agreement between CASM and yourself
  • Complete all financial administration services on your behalf during your residency
  • Positively promote yourself and your residency
  • Communicate regularly with you during your residency
  • Inform you of any changes to the residency program two weeks in advance in writing.

The Tiny Treasures Christmas Artists' Sale presents original, locally handcrafted gifts for the festive season. Tiny Treasures will feature more than 500 works of art, created by 40+ artists. All pieces featured in the gallery are available for immediate purchase, to place under the Christmas tree, post to loved ones, or keep for a personal treat. Prices range from $4 to $300, and include small-scale sculpture, collage and illustration works, paintings and prints, jewellery, ceramics and basketry.

CASM invites all Peel artists and artisans to be part of it's annual end of year exhibition. 

Artists can apply for:

  • The Tiny Treasures curated exhibition
  • The Tiny Treasures indoor 'Marketplace'
  • The CASM outside activation spaces which include hire of the courtyard or workshop spaces.

CASM offers a creative space which allows a variety of community arts and skill building workshops to be run. The workshops allow for those eager to learn to develop skills and creative understanding as well as a community connection.

The CASM workshop is available to be hired by individual art facilitators, community arts groups and professional artists on a regular or casual basis.
