The Channel 7 Mandurah Crab Fest is WA’s biggest free regional event, and we're committed to making it the best possible experience for all visitors.
Mandurah is a leader in creating an inclusive and accessible community. Together with the community, big improvements and achievements have been made in creating more accessible spaces, places, events and services.
As well as the work being done year-round for greater access and inclusion for people with disability, we've included a range of accessible features to enhance the Mandurah Crab Fest experience for everyone to enjoy.
To make it easier for people with disability to access the festival footprint, a Drop-off Bay is located at the Mandjar Square car park (James Service Place). This will assist people who require close access to the event, and who cannot move the distance from the allocated ACROD parking bays. There are ACROD Parking Bays located at the north of the event in various convenient locations, and continuous connecting pathway access is provided from the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre to the event.
The Spudshed Cooking Stage is one of the highlights of the Crab Fest program, with chefs, celebrities and special guests cooking up a storm all weekend. Auslan Interpretation will be on the Cooking Stage on Saturday and Sunday from 10am – 5pm, with an interpreter next to the stage to live translate dialogue into Auslan.
Within the event footprint, there are also Universal Access Toilets and a Changing Places Facility next to the Mandurah Visitor Centre. For those using mobility scooters, a Mobility Scooter Charging Station will be located outside the Mandurah Visitor Centre within a marquee.
On the Eastern Foreshore, a Chill Out Zone will be set up, providing a quiet, visually calming space for people to visit so they can regulate their sensory needs before heading back to enjoy the event. The Chill Out Zone is being delivered in partnership with APM Communities.
For those after some fun and relaxation on Mandurah’s glorious waterways, the Emily Louise Houseboat will be moored on the accessible jetty outside Cicerellos. Provided by Mandurah House Boats, the Emily Louise is WA’s only wheelchair accessible houseboat which accommodates eight guests, and visitors are welcome on board to see everything the houseboat has to offer.
Other accessibility inclusions are a Crab Fest Social Story, shuttle bus services, guide dog and service dog areas, and a Sensory Access Map which has been developed to support people to visit the event. Stay tuned to the Crab Fest website for the map coming soon.
