Aerial view of Eastern Foreshore circular estuary pool

Mandurah’s Eastern and Western foreshores have seen some big changes throughout the year, as works progress and take shape as part of the Waterfront Project.

Over on the Western Foreshore, the Meeting Place public artwork was officially launched as part of the Mandurah Arts Festival at the end of October, and the new Play Space on the waterfront is under construction with the impressive play tower and equipment installation underway.

There will also be some additional shelters and furniture on the Western Foreshore near the skate park for people to enjoy over the festive season while out and about with family and friends.

Together with the new Mandurah Skate Park, these projects are transforming Mandurah for our whole community to enjoy, and cementing Mandurah as a must-see destination for visitors.

Along the Eastern Foreshore, the circular estuary pool’s floating pontoon has been completed, and works are progressing on the area around the pool to turn it into an amazing, relaxing and family friendly space for all.

As is the case with many projects this year, the Waterfront Project has experienced some delays due to COVID-19 with the current shortage of building materials and skilled trades.

However the community can rest assured that works are progressing to deliver these new and refreshed spaces as soon as possible.

The City has been reassigning its resources to focus on finishing the estuary pool, and we’re hoping we can give the community an early Christmas present and have it finished this festive season.

As work continues on these milestone projects, once completed the transformation of Mandurah’s most popular rest and recreation spaces will be second to none. In the meantime, we encourage the community and visitors to enjoy summertime in Mandurah and the amazing Christmas in Mandurah program on offer.
