About the Event

Mandurah Libraries are celebrating Love to Read Local in June with a series of author events and workshops.

Love to Read Local, an initiative of writing WA, is an annual state-wide campaign showcasing and celebrating Western Australia's many, many wonderful writers and illustrators, and the books they create.

Join us for an enchanting adult storytelling event presented by the Storytelling Guild of Australia (W.A.) Inc

Immerse yourself in the magic of oral storytelling as six talented storytellers take you on a captivating journey with a blend of folktales, personal stories, and historical tales. Narratives of connection, problem-solving, reconciliation, cultural exchange, understanding, and friendship can build bridges—both real and metaphorical. Stories connect the listener and the teller with each other, and there is power in those connections.

Listening to stories has been proven to have numerous benefits for mental health. It stimulates the imagination, enhances listening skills, and cultivates empathy. It serves as a vital tool for preserving memory, cultures, and languages while providing insight into the unknown worlds of history.

This is a free event.

Afternoon tea will be served at 2.30pm.
