The festival will feature a diverse range of local and national authors, providing a unique opportunity for readers to connect with the voices behind some of Australia’s most intriguing books. One of the key highlights is the opening event on Thursday 16 January, where Stephen Daisley, winner of the 2024 West Australian Premier’s Book Award for Book of the Year, will be in conversation with Kathy Heys. Daisley will discuss his acclaimed novel A Better Place, which explores themes of belonging and the complexities of human relationships.
Throughout the festival, attendees can expect to hear from a range of talented authors, including Annie De Monchaux, whose novel Audrey’s Gone AWOL is garnering attention for its gripping storyline. Josh Kemp, known for his Australian Gothic crime fiction, will share insights into his writing process, while Louise Wolhuter, author of Shadows of Winter Robins, will talk about her journey as a writer.
In addition to author talks, the festival will also feature a panel discussion with David Allan-Petale, Sara Foster, Holden Sheppard, and Josephine Taylor as they discuss the art of writing and their diverse literary careers.
The final day of the festival, Saturday 18 January, will offer something special for those interested in memoir writing, with Gerard McCann and Khin Myint leading a session on the powerful art of personal storytelling.
As a fitting close to the festival, participants are invited to join in a Planting Session in support of Grow It Local and the Mandurah Libraries Seed Library collection, where they can pot their own seeds to take home and nurture.
Bookings for all sessions are essential and free. Register now via Eventbrite to secure your spot and explore the full program at Readers and Writers Festival on Eventbrite.
