Peel Street Upgrade Nears Completion: Traffic Changes from 7 September
Peel Street, one of Mandurah’s main entry roads, has been undergoing significant upgrades to improve connectivity within the local road network and enhance access to the City Centre.
As the project reaches completion, traffic conditions will change starting Saturday, 7 September, to accommodate the remaining works.
- The eastbound lane will reopen, allowing traffic to flow in both directions.
Motorists are advised to drive cautiously and follow traffic signs, as work continues in the area.
In the coming weeks, the final tasks to complete Peel Street will include:
- Paving works on the central islands
- Concrete works for driveways, footpaths, and pram ramps
- Landscaping with new garden beds, mulching, and planting
- Rock pitching and kerbing
These finishing touches will complete Peel Street making it more accessible and visually appealing.
Key improvements of the project include:
- Widening the road to feature a central median, one lane in each direction, on-street parking, improved pedestrian and cyclist access, enhanced street lighting, and landscaping
- Upgraded bus stops in both directions
- A shared pathway on the north side and a dedicated footpath on the south side
- Future-proofed capacity to manage increasing traffic as Mandurah grows
The City of Mandurah thanks the community for their patience and cooperation throughout the project.
