The second stage of the maintenance and replacement of the air conditioning unit are starting today at Falcon Library and Community Centre.
The works include replacing the air conditioning unit for Meeting Rooms 1 and 2, and the main library space, and will be completed in a staged process by the end of May.
While the library will remain open to the public throughout the project, access to certain collections, services and programs will be disrupted at different stages of the works. This includes the Fab Lab, meeting rooms, collections of books, audio books, DVDs, magazines and book displays.
Community programs including STEAM, Rhymetime and Storytime will be relocated to other parts of the library or held outside, weather permitting.
The Department of Health Child Nurses will still continue to operate during this time.
Parking for Falcon Library will be open, however visitors will need to access the Library from the front entry on Cobblers Street. Child Health Nurse visitors can access the consulting rooms through the car park entry doors.
The City of Mandurah would like to thank the community for their understanding during the works program and encourages library users to also make use of the Mandurah and Lakelands libraries during this time.
A summary of impacts to community are listed below. These dates are subject to change and maybe impacted by circumstances beyond our control. If you are visiting the library for a specific service or program, please contact our team to confirm it will be running and available as scheduled. Please call 9550 3230 or email manlib@mandurah.wa.gov.au
Stage Two Impacts:
Meeting Rooms 1, 2 and 3 and the FabLab will be unavailable. All regular hirers of these spaces have been notified and every effort has been made to find them suitable spaces across the City while the work is being undertaken.
MineCraft at Falcon Library will take a short break. Minecraft will continue at Mandurah Library on Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday. Check the website for details.
Access to the children's books, and parts of the adult non-fiction collection will be limited. Pop into Mandurah Library or Lakelands Library to borrow books for your little ones, or reserve items through the online catalogue for pick-up at Falcon Library.
Some programs have been moved to the cafe area. We appreciate your patience and understanding in sharing these spaces while work is being completed.
At times, the library may be a little noisier than usual.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
