
A Total Fire Ban and Harvest and Vehicle Movement Ban has been declared for Thursday 21 December between the hours of 12.00am (0000hrs) and 11.59pm (2359hrs). Details of Total Fire Bans for the area can be accessed at emergency.wa.gov.au.
A Total Fire Ban occurs on days when fires are most likely to threaten lives and property and are declared by DFES.
ACTIVITIES NOT PERMITTED DURING THE PERIOD OF THIS BAN:
- NO open-air fires, solid fuel BBQs or pizza ovens are permitted
- NO hot works (e.g. welding, grinding, cutting, heating etc) outside of a suitably enclosed area
- You cannot use an engine, vehicle, plant, equipment or machinery, powered by an internal combustion engine, Off-road such as in the bush, paddock or on any land which contains vegetation (alive or dead). This includes motorbikes, quad bikes, excavators, chain saws, lawnmowers and generators

In addition to the Total Fire Ban, a Harvest and Vehicle Movement Ban has been declared under Regulation 24C declared by a Bushfire Control Officer of the City of Mandurah. This ban effectively removes some exemptions that are provided under Total Fire Bans Declared by DFES.
- Harvesting operations are not permitted.
- Use or operation of any engine, vehicle, plant, equipment or machinery likely to cause a bush fire or contribute to the spread of a bush fire is not permitted. Note* engine, vehicle, plant, equipment or machinery means activated by, an internal combustion engine regardless of whether it is for agricultural purposes or work being conducted by business, industry and public authorities. This includes excavators, lawn mowers, petrol whipper snippers, chain saws excavators, generators etc.
- All Off-road activity is banned, regardless of whether it is for agricultural purposes or work being conducted by business, industry and public authorities. Off-road activity includes the use of anything activated by an internal combustion engine being used off-road e.g. 4wd, motor bikes, quad bikes etc.
- The description of Off-road includes areas such as paddocks, bushland, uncleared land and land with stubble or long grass.
To minimise risk of bushfire the City of Mandurah has activated the closures of Island Point Reserve, the Lake Clifton Giant (Jyttes Hytte) in Yalgorup National Park and the Marlee Reserve Giant (Little Lui).
The remaining three Giants at Wannanup, Halls Head and Coodanup will remain open.
