About the Event

Join us for the Youth Mental Health First Aid course. 

This course teaches participants how to provide initial support to a young person (aged 12-18) who may be experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis, until professional help is received or the crisis gets better.

Participants will learn about the signs and symptoms of common mental health problems in teenagers, how to spot when a problem is getting worse and understanding what treatments and support are available to them.

What you will learn:

How to apply mental health first aid across a range of common mental health problems and crisis situations including:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Psychosis
  • Substance use problems
  • Suicidal thoughts and behaviours
  • Panic attacks
  • Non suicidal self-injury

The course will be delivered over 2 days:

Date: 20 and 21 May

Time: 9.00am-4.30pm

Location: Tuckey Room - Mandurah Council Chambers, 87 Mandurah Terrace
