About the Event
Come together with us, South East Regional Centre for Urban Landcare (SERCUL), Western Australian Seabird Rescue and Tackle World Miami to discover what's going on at Duck Park lake.
Our team will share how we monitor urban lakes - what we look for and how we aim to address key threats.
Discover a new way of gardening with SERCUL's tips for responsible fertiliser use. These tips will keep your garden thriving while protecting our local lakes from excess nutrients.
Learn about the impacts of poor water quality and feeding on birds from WA Seabird Rescue and what we can all do to reduce our impact.
Tackle World Miami will also run a fishing activity to help us catch the koi living in the lake - a pest species which reduces the health of our lakes and the wildlife that rely on them.
They'll also be plenty of activities to keep the kids busy while we all learn a bit more about the lake.
This workshop is a great way to:
- learn how to keep our environment healthy and beautiful for generations to come
- support our local wildlife that use these lakes as homes, feeding spots, or passageways
- meet like-minded members of your community to kickstart some local action
- have some fun with the whole family!
