Last year Australians lost over $323 million to scammers who targeted senior Australians over 65 years of age, more than any other age group. An estimated 11% of Australians aged 15 years and over (2.1 million) experienced personal fraud in 2020-21. Scammers frequently impersonate government departments so it is important that consumers become knowledgeable and are able to identify false claims where possible.
During this forum, the various organisations will deliver brief presentations on issues such as scam awareness, financial safety, personal welfare, and others.
