Get your New Year of to a great start by making your own Daruma Doll. Daruma Dolls are a symbol of good luck and determination. These dolls are a traditional Japanese good luck charm used to make a wish or set a goal. They represent perseverance and embody the famous Japanese proverb: Nanakorobi Yaoki, meaning “Fall down seven times, stand up eight”.
Choose your Daruma to make, colour in the left eye and write your goal or New Year’s Resolution on the back and then place your Daruma at home where you can see it. Once you have achieved your goal, colour in its right eye. Get to know more about Japanese culture and be inspired with this fun paper craft activity, designed by artist Dijana Jovanovic.
