About the Event

Join Lisa Collyer and Allan Fyfe for drinks, nibbles and shared readings of their poetry and novel at the close of the first day of the Readers’ & Writers’ Festival.

The Readers’ and Writers’ Festival is an annual adult literature event presented by City of Mandurah Library & Heritage Services. In 2024 it will be held from 11 – 13 January at the Seashells Resort Mandurah. The aim of the festival is to foster a love of reading and literature and encourage creativity in our community. This year the festival brings together an array of established and emerging storytellers from across WA. The free to attend three-day festival includes author talks, panel discussions, and poetry reading.

Lisa Collyer

Lisa Collyer is a poet and educator in Boorloo. She is the author of the poetry collection, How To Order Eggs Sunny Side Up, which was short-listed for The Dorothy Hewett Award in 2022 and is published with Gazebo Book’s poetry imprint, Life Before Man. She is widely published in Westerly, Rabbit, Cordite, Australian Poetry Anthology, Salt Bush Review, Science Write Now and more. She was an inspire writer in residence for The National Trust of W.A. Allan Fyfe Alan Fyfe is a Jewish writer, from the unceded country of the Noongar Nation in Western Australia, whose verse and prose can be found in Westerly, Overland, Australian Poetry Journal, and Cottonmouth. His first novel, T, was shortlisted for the T.A.G. Hungerford Prize, the Chaffinch Press Aware Prize (Ireland) and the West Australian Premier’s Award. Alan’s poetry collection, G-d, Sleep, and Chaos was awarded silver for the Flying Islands unpublished manuscript award and will be published with Gazebo Books in 2024.
