About the Event
ART ON THE MOVE presents this exciting two-day course for entry-level and experienced artists and arts practitioners.
Managing temporary or permanent gallery spaces or collections requires specialised knowledge and expertise. Over the course of two days, participants will be introduced to the essential skills and knowledge for working in gallery environments, including;
- Condition reporting
- Exhibition design and installation
- Safe handling and packing of artworks
Participants will gain an understanding of the specialist materials and equipment used in galleries and collections to ensure the safe handling, installation, and storage of artworks.
The program has a focus on the principles and practices of effective and safe teamwork and offers hands-on experience handling and installing artworks. Emphasis will be placed on safe practices and industry standards for gallery workers and artists.
The workshop will be delivered through a combination of theoretical learning and practical, hands-on exercises. It is suitable for those looking for introductory gallery skills, those who want the opportunity to refresh and refine their expertise, or artists wanting to understand how to prepare their artwork for presentation in a gallery setting.
