MARC staff stand side by side with their awards

MARC employees Nick Fuller, Lauren Yardley, Luke Waldron and Ryan Pennachio at the 2025 Royal Life Saving Bravery Awards.

Four employees from the Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre were recognised at the 2025 Royal Life Saving WA Bravery Awards last week for their incredible efforts during an incident at the Centre earlier this year.

The annual awards, held at Kings Park on 17 October, recognise a range of lifesaving efforts, from complex water rescues to lifesaving CPR and first aid.

MARC employees Nick Fuller and Ryan Pennachio were awarded the Gold Medallion, Luke Waldron received the Gold Star, and Lauren Yardley was acknowledged with a Bravery Commendation.

In January, the four staff members responded to a critical medical emergency involving a regular MARC patron who was found unresponsive in her vehicle after her evening swim. The team quickly removed the woman from the vehicle, conducted vital checks, and commenced CPR with defibrillation before paramedics arrived.

Nick, Ryan, Luke and Lauren showed incredible professionalism, teamwork, and composure during the emergency. A huge congratulations to them for their efforts in keeping the community safe and showing courage and selflessness in a time of need.
