The future Dawesville Community Centre is one step closer to completion, having achieved some important construction milestones in recent weeks.

Since works began in March at the corner of Dandaragan Drive and Woodstock Avenue, work completed includes the structural steel frame, internal brick walls, and centre roofing.

The project team is now focussing on mechanical and electrical installations, both of which are 50% complete. Construction of the centre is on track to be completed by mid-2025.

The Dawesville Community Centre will serve as a central hub for Mandurah’s southern communities, with the local area’s population expected to double to 15,000 by 2036.

The need for the centre was identified in the City of Mandurah’s Social Infrastructure Plan, with the multi-use facility set to offer a contemporary space for Dawesville residents to work and play. Features include:

  • A main hall
  • Storerooms
  • Universally accessible toilet
  • Wet and dry multi-use activity rooms
  • A kitchen
  • Office space
  • Sound-insulated meeting rooms
  • Landscaped areas and a play area

Construction of the new facility is being funded by a $2.65 million Lotterywest grant and a $6.2 million financial contribution from the State Government, with the City of Mandurah managing the project and the future operations of the facility.
