Works on the Eastern Foreshore north and central areas continue to progress well, with steady advancements made throughout September.
As planned, the Eastern Foreshore is being opened up section by section, and parts of the northern area reopened this week. This will improve community access and provide clearer entry to the local businesses. There are still some elements within this space to be completed, these include:
- Installation of light poles and fittings (temporary lighting is in place for now)
- Furniture and fittings
- Soft landscape planting
- Replacement of temporary paving around service lids
The car park upgrade continues to move forward, with the first bitumen seal and kerbing completed, setting the foundation for the final asphalt surface. The car park design features a dedicated drop-off/pick-up area to improve traffic flow, as well as a raised table to slow vehicles entering the car park and create a safer pedestrian crossing. Additionally, the car park has been repositioned away from the water and plaza to better utilise the space and includes four ACROD bays located closer to the local businesses and main pathway connections.
Looking ahead you can expect:
- Focus remains on the northern area, with the next stage aiming to complete and reopen pedestrian pathway connections, making it easier for everyone to move throughout the area.
- Below-ground servicing is ongoing across the entire site, with concreting and paving following closely behind.
- Construction has begun on the new playground area, which will be a fantastic addition to the foreshore once completed.
- Finishing works will be carried out around the toilet block in the south to allow for better pedestrian access in that area.
Thank you for your patience as the Eastern Foreshore transforms into a vibrant and accessible space for the whole community.
