2024 Crab Fest Event Ambassador, Home and Away actor James Stewart

 

Home and Away actor James Stewart and former Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden AM and his television presenter daughter Grace Hayden will be this year’s Channel 7 Mandurah Crab Fest Event Ambassadors.

The celebrities will make their way to Mandurah next month for the City of Mandurah’s signature event, exciting the crowds over the jam-packed Crab Fest weekend, Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 March.

James, Matthew and Grace will join a host of Channel 7 celebrities and other personalities throughout the weekend including Blake and Amanda Proud from My Kitchen Rules, 7NEWS Perth host Susannah Carr, and this year’s Crab Fest Culinary Ambassador Paul West from River Cottage Australia.

Crab Fest crowds can catch James, Matthew and Grace on the Spudshed Cooking Stage and various other locations throughout the weekend.

The Event Ambassadors were announced at yesterday's Channel 7 Mandurah Crab Fest Media Launch at local bar Brewvino, where Better Homes and Gardens host Johanna Griggs and 7NEWS Perth presenters Susannah Carr and Samantha Jolly helped Mandurah Mayor Rhys Williams to officially launch the event.

Mayor Rhys Williams said the Channel 7 Mandurah Crab Fest remained one of the State’s biggest free regional events, with 120,000 people coming to Mandurah last year to enjoy the festivities.

“Mandurah really is the place to be over Crab Fest weekend with our City Centre, marina and stunning waterfront spaces alive with people, entertainment and activity, and is certainly part of the reason why Mandurah is Australia’s Top Tourism Town,” Mayor Williams said.

“We are excited to welcome our 2024 Event Ambassadors to Mandurah and I look forward to showcasing our beautiful city with them and the thousands of visitors coming here to enjoy everything we have to offer. It’s set to be an awesome weekend in Mandurah.”

For something different during Crab Fest, several ticketed experiences are now on sale, showcasing local business’s specialities, mouth-watering food and drinks, and Mandurah’s stunning waterways.

On Friday, 15 March, the Cocktails & Canapes Masquerade Sundowner, hosted by Cocktail Gastronomy, will launch the Crab Fest weekend with an evening of indulgence by the water including delicious food and drinks, live music and the beautiful sunset over the Peel Harvey Estuary. Culinary Ambassador Paul West – also a media personality, chef and author – will attend this event to wow the crowd with a cooking demonstration.

Boundary Island Brewing Co will host a one night only Beer N’ Beef event on Friday, 15 March, on the Eastern Foreshore. Boundary Island Brewing Co and Coastal Bliss Yoga have teamed up to present Beer Yoga on Saturday, 16 March. Move your body with a fun yoga flow while enjoying some award-winning locally brewed beer and a brekkie platter to kick off the Crab Fest experience.

A series of Cocktail Masterclasses, also hosted by Cocktail Gastronomy, will be held throughout Crab Fest weekend, with talented bartenders teaching people the tricks of the trade in creating delicious drinks. Shake and stir cocktails to enjoy on the day and enjoy a glass of sparkling on arrival.

Local businesses, restaurants, bars and cafes will also be hosting a range of special events in the lead up to and during Crab Fest, including the Clamshells Pottery Workshops with Two Muddy Men from 14 – 17 March, and the Crack a Crab event at Wood and Stone Cafe over the weekend. The 2024 Crab Fest footprint will stretch from the City Centre and along Mandurah’s Eastern and Western Foreshores, Mandjar Square and over to the award-winning Mandurah Ocean Marina.

Highlights of the 2024 Crab Fest include a Main Stage with headline acts The Potbelleez and Pacific Avenue, family entertainment, activities, a dedicated Children’s Stage, action sports, water activations, fireworks, pop-up food stalls, licensed bars, an interactive SciTech display and the action-packed WA Police Force Career Expo.

The Channel 7 Mandurah Crab Fest is a City of Mandurah event, supported by the State Government through Tourism WA’s Regional Events Program.
