The Mandurah Council recently adopted the 2022/23 budget, which is set to invest in community places and spaces for the future and continue the momentum of the many projects and capital works being delivered throughout the city.

The carefully considered budget will continue the positive momentum seen across Mandurah, but will also address the complex fiscal environment currently faced by all Western Australians. Responsible, long-term budgeting is vital now more than ever.

The City has reworked its capital works program to prioritise immediate need and the most impactful projects, and has been successful in reducing operating expenses.

There is also a big focus on maintenance across the City’s $1.3billion asset portfolio, meaning the community can keep enjoying great places and spaces well into the future, without inheriting an unnecessary financial burden. This includes valued community spaces such as libraries, museum, Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre, ManPAC, seniors and youth centres, foreshores, reserves and recreational spaces.

The momentum will also continue with the work being done on the Transform Mandurah plan, including investments in the Waterfront Project which has already attracted significant private interest, which is vital in creating short and long term economic benefits.

The 2022/23 budget is also delivering on a shared vision across many different areas of the community including the economy, environment, health and social, with some of the capital works projects including Falcon Bay Foreshore, cycle and walking trails, economic and community grants, events and activations and waterwise and energy initiatives.

The City has been able to keep the proposed rate increase to 4.43 percent, or on average an additional $70 a year for the average residential ratepayer.

There are many ways to make paying rates easier, with a number of options designed to help ease financial pressures. Payment arrangements can be made including instalments, smoothing, direct debits and more. Please contact the City so we can understand your situation and we can work with you to find a solution. Rates payments can also be made online, over the phone, in person or via the post.
