Birds eye view of dunes and ocean at White Hills Beach

White Hill Road in Mandurah’s south, which provides access to popular 4WD tracks at White Hills beach, is now closed until further notice due to dangerous beach conditions for vehicles.

In January it was noticed that a section of the beach had eroded back to sand dunes at White Hills beach, near the entrance from White Hills Road. Part of the dune is still being washed out by wave activity, resulting in the continual collapse of the dune itself. This means there is no room for cars to drive on the 4WD track between the waterline and the dunes at high and low tides.

White Hills beach was originally closed at the end of January, as the track for vehicles was not usable and the beach itself was unsafe. The condition of the beach has not improved since.

Ahead of the long weekend, the City of Mandurah has made the decision to close the beach access point at White Hill Road (west of Quail Road) to keep the community safe.

The City will be looking to continue monitoring conditions at this site, and will let the community know when the beach is safe and stable enough for 4WD access to reopen.

There is currently a Variable Message Board at White Hill Road advising of the closure and danger on the beach to vehicles. There is also signage at Preston Beach, Tims Thicket and near the Mandurah Train Station.
