About the Event

Join us for a celebration of culture and community at the City of Mandurah 2025 Australia Day events.

We’re inviting all Mandurah residents to reflect, respect and celebrate with us as we honour our community champions and welcome a new crop of Australian citizens.

A special Smoking Ceremony will be held on 25 January at 5pm, with on-the-day proceedings kicking off at the Eastern Foreshore from 8.30am Sunday, 26 January.

The official ceremony will include the Citizen of the Year awards presentation, a traditional Australian Citizenship Ceremony and a series of cultural activities and experiences. See the full schedule of events below.

The City of Mandurah’s 2025 Australia Day celebrations are supported by the Australian government through the National Australia Day Council.

Citizen of the Year awards

The City of Mandurah Citizen of the Year awards recognise and honour those who go above and beyond in their service to our community.

Be they volunteers, committee members, carers or passionate individuals, the 2024 award nominees have made outstanding contributions to the Mandurah community. These awards are a chance for all Mandurah locals to reflect, respect and celebrate these community champions.

This year’s awards will see winners announced across four categories, including Community Citizen of the Year, Senior Community Citizen of the Year (65 years and over), Young Community Citizen of the Year (16 – 30 years), and Active Citizenship Award (for a group or event).

Australian Citizenship Ceremony

Citizenship ceremonies are a celebration of the diverse range of cultures that contribute to the Mandurah community. Figures from 2021 show more than 24,000 people living in the City of Mandurah were born overseas, and 8% had arrived in Australia within five years prior to 2021.

These ceremonies often mark the end of long journeys for families and individuals who have sought citizenship over several years.

This year’s ceremony will see 103 people from 17 different countries taking the pledge to become Australian citizens.

Join in the fun as we reflect, respect and celebrate this Australia Day.
