About the Event
“To rest, as wind stirs the flooded gum leaves” is a site-specific performance and an invitation to listen closely, hosted by Tone List as part of the Audible Edge Festival. This is a silent walk through the Creery Wetlands in Dudley Park, opening ears up to hearing the intriguing play of sheoaks, birds, frogs and other beings in new ways. The walk is hosted by contemporary dancer Daisy Sanders, who’ll lead a warm-up and invite a restful listening to your body, and a careful pace. As the walk progresses, highly regarded musicians from Australia’s exploratory music scene will join the sounding environment with their instruments. Melbourne-based musicians Jasmin Wing-Yin Leung and Aviva Endean from the Australian Art Orchestra will contribute improvised huqin and clarinet, with Perth-based artist Josten Myburgh performing on alto saxophone. Mandurah-based sound artist Furchick (Claire Pannell) brings her exhaustive collection of self-made, self-playing instruments and sound sculptures onboard, letting the weather play them like a tiny orchestra.Performance times:
