About the Event

Local Mandurah ceramicists Penelope Collis and Bec Thomas showcase their individual style and quality craftsmanship in their collaborative exhibition Perception. Exploring a diverse range of handcrafted ceramics that highlight their artistic synergy and creativity, this exhibition offers a captivating insight into Penelope and Bec’s shared passion for the art form.

Penelope incorporates various ceramic methods and mediums to explore society’s dogmatic, concept of consumerism. In a throw-away society, she questions the ideals of newness, perfection, and the value of aesthetic. Through her large robust pieces Bec challenges the perception of form and construction, enhanced with her expertise in creating surface texture, colour and glazing effects

Workshops

As part of this exhibition, Penelope and Bec will also be running an exciting suite of ceramics workshops. All workshops are suitable for ages 18+, beginners welcome.

Relaxing with Clay

Hand Building Skills Workshop
Saturday, 22 February 2025
1pm-3pm
In this skill-based workshop with Penelope Collis, learn the techniques used to create large vessels including finger pot and coil methods. 5kg of clay will be available for you to practice your newfound skills, to be returned at end of session or BYO clay if you want to retain your vessel. Bring an apron, rolling pin, flat wooden spatula and simple drawing materials (pencils and paper or sketch pad).

Beginners Guide to Glaze Making
