About the Event
Join innovative fibre artist Fiona Gavino for this one-day workshop, who employs basketry in multidisciplinary methods within a contemporary art context.
You will have the opportunity to learn three distinctly different coiled basketry techniques, how to recognise suitable plant fibres you can harvest yourself and how to store them.
This class is crafted to cater to both the novice seeking to establish a foundation in basketry and the seasoned artisan desiring to delve deeper into their creative potential and refine their existing abilities.
Some materials and plant fibres are provided, and you may also bring along any you may be curious about exploring. Participants should also bring secateurs or sharp scissors, and a darning needle.
