Koolbardi Bidi Garden
Located in the grounds of Contemporary Art Spaces Mandurah, this garden features specimens of over 60 local native plant species. Each plant has a story to tell, of use in traditional Noongar culture or contemporary art practices. The garden also features community art and a Noongar-English word wall.
Koolbardi Bidi is the Noongar name given to the garden by Elder Iris Woods, translating to Magpie Path. This name represents the Aboriginal and non Aboriginal community coming together to celebrate and learn about Noongar culture.
The Cultural Garden Plant Guide describes 12 of the Koolbardi Bidi Garden plants, suitable for home gardens. Please note: As with all bush food experimentation, it is vital to correctly identify plants before tasting, and start with a small sample to check for any adverse effects.
