From 10 December 2025, young people under 16 will no longer be able to use social media under new Australian Government regulations introduced through the Online Safety Amendment (Social Media Minimum Age) Bill 2024. Social media platforms will be required to stop under-16s from creating or maintaining accounts, with oversight provided by the eSafety Commissioner.

For many young people, social media has been a key channel to find out what’s happening in Mandurah. To help them stay connected, the City has launched a new Youth landing page where everything they need can be found in one easy place:

👉 What’s on for Youth – City of Mandurah

This page brings together programs, events and activities from across the City’s facilities and will be updated regularly. Young people and their families can also sign up for the Youth newsletter to receive updates directly.

Wondering what the social media ban means for you?

The Social Media Age Restrictions Hub from the eSafety Commissioner provides clear information, tips and guidance to help young people understand the changes and prepare for the transition.
