Nominations are now open for the 11th annual City of Mandurah Sports Awards with local players, athletes, clubs, and volunteers encouraged to put names forward across 10 categories.
The prestigious awards celebrate the sporting successes of Mandurah locals across the past 12 months, recognising achievements and excellence among local sportspeople, clubs, and those behind the scenes who have a strong connection with, or are based in, Mandurah.
Mayor Caroline Knight said the Mandurah Sports Awards shone a spotlight on the inspiring stories that emerged from the city’s sporting scene each year and honoured the rich tradition of sport in Mandurah.
“Sport is at the heart of our community - it helps us stay active, healthy, and builds lasting friendships. We are proud of the many local clubs, players and volunteers who dedicate countless hours to ensure Mandurah’s sporting culture continues to thrive, from the grassroots right up to elite levels,” Mayor Knight said.
"I encourage everyone to nominate a sporting star and help to showcase the valuable impacts they make on the local sporting community.”
For Mandurah City Football Club’s director of female football Melanie Loreto, winning a Mandurah Sports Award gave her a renewed sense of confidence and motivation.
Miss Loreto won the Female Volunteer of the Year award in 2024, saying the win made her incredibly proud to be part of her club. “It was a powerful reminder that the time, effort, and dedication I’ve put into supporting female football in our region is truly valued and recognised,” she said. “I now feel even more inspired to push the boundaries and create greater opportunities for women and girls in sport.”
