Construction of the future Dawesville Community Centre is progressing well, with a series of milestones reached in recent weeks.
The exterior of the centre is quickly coming to life with decorative cladding now installed, and important plumbing works have commenced.
Other key focus areas over the past month include:
- Internal plasterboard lining complete
- Internal tiling to wet areas complete
- Internal cabinetry being installed
- Internal painting commenced
The Centre remains on track to be open in mid-2025.
Based on the corner of Dandaragan Drive and Woodstock Avenue, the Dawesville Community Centre includes a main hall with stage, storerooms, universally accessible toilet, wet and dry multi-use activity rooms, kitchen, some office space, meeting room space with sound insulation, landscaping, and a play area. There will also be an external playground and public art installation.
The new facility will provide Mandurah’s southern community with a contemporary and modern space for groups, families and neighbours to work, learn and play.
Construction of the new facility is being funded by a $2.65 million Lotterywest grant and a $6.2 million financial contribution from the State Government, with the City of Mandurah managing the project and the future operations of the facility.
