The City of Mandurah mosquito chopper will be in the skies to carry out the 11th aerial treatment of the season from 15-16 January 2025.

Residents may spot the chopper operating over wetlands, and at times near residential areas.

The treatments target mosquito larvae in the water before they can become adults. The larvicides used are approved by the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority, backed by the WA Department of Health, for broadscale mosquito management.

Environmental conditions have led to higher levels of mosquito breeding across the Peel region in recent weeks, with a rise in mozzie numbers and activity levels expected to follow.

Please bear this in mind when heading outdoors and remember to protect yourself and your family against mozzie bites.

What can you do?

  • Apply repellent with DEET, Picaridin, or oil of lemon eucalyptus
  • Cover up with long, loose, light-coloured clothing
  • Avoid peak mozzie times (early morning and late afternoon)
  • Remove stagnant water around your home to reduce breeding sites.
