underneath the boardwalk view showing water and pillars
The City of Mandurah has commenced essential repair and maintenance work on the timber boardwalk located along the Eastern Foreshore South, with completion expected by the end of December 2024, subject to weather conditions.

This project involves applying protective coating to the boardwalk’s steel components to prevent further corrosion and replacing certain elements that have experienced advanced rusting and are unsuitable for coating treatment.

The maintenance will take place within the substructure beneath the boardwalk decking, which will help limit disruptions to pedestrian access and business operations along the foreshore.
Minimal impact is anticipated, allowing the area to remain accessible while work is underway.

Currently, the team is progressing with the application of protective coatings to the steel elements, while additional reinforcing materials are set to arrive in the coming weeks to further support the project’s aims.
