
The winners of the City of Mandurah’s Masterpieces 2K23 Youth Competition and Exhibition have been announced, with young artists celebrated for their incredible artworks across a variety of mediums.
More than 40 pieces including painting, drawing, sculpture and digital media are now on show at Contemporary Art Spaces Mandurah (CASM) in the Masterpieces 2K23 Exhibition, showcasing the works of local budding artists aged 12 – 25 years.
The exhibition will be open to view until Sunday, May 28, with an artist talk also presented on this day at 11am to give audiences an insight into the inspiration and process for creating the works of art.
The annual Masterpieces competition and exhibition is an opportunity for young Mandurah artists to have their works presented at a professional gallery. This year’s winners were announced during opening night on April 28.
The winners of the Masterpieces 2K23 competition are:
12-15 years category:
- First – Seoyoung Moon for To the Shore
- Second – Caitlyn Turnor for Eustis
- Third – Florence Sweeney for One Character Many Faces
16-17 years category:
- First – Abigail Farrington for Broken Love
- Second – Matilda Bingham for Blossom
- Third – Ella Harvey for Reflections
18-25 years category:
- First – Miriyana Choujaa for Refresh
- Second – Samuel Swadling for The Real Salvator Mundi
- Third – Taylor Gollan for Coloured Country
Digital media award:
- First – Xanthe Turner for Thalassophobia
- Second – Hiruni Premaratne for Tissue Monstors
- Third – Mason Levy for Lucia, fundidora de metal y carne impia, martir de la justice divina
Dorothy Newland Award – Jess Tomlinson for Sediments
The Junior Masterpieces exhibition, for artists aged 5 – 11 years, is also now on show until Sunday, May 28 at the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre’s (ManPAC) upstairs Mezz Gallery.
