The Masterpieces 2K21 Competition and Exhibition is back again at Contemporary Art Spaces Mandurah (CASM).
The annual exhibition is designed to celebrate local emerging artists aged 13-25 years, and allows these young Mandurah artists to have their works presented at a professional gallery.
Each year, the exhibition showcases relevant current social and critical perspectives of the community's creative youths, and encourages artists to explore a wide variety of mediums including painting, drawing, sculpture and digital media.
Masterpieces 2K21 will be on show at CASM from Friday, March 26 (with the official event opening at 5pm).
As part of the Competition and Exhibition, local creatives are invited to join in a series of exciting, free workshops, including:
Masterpieces 2K21 - Mechanical Sculptures (12-15yrs and 16-25yrs), Wednesday, April 7 & Thursday, April 8
CASM is inviting local artists to take part in this free workshop with Claire Pannel.
The first workshop (for 12-15 year olds) will be on Wednesday, April 7 from 1.30pm. The second workshop (for 16-25 year olds) will be on Thursday, 8 April from 1.30pm. Registrations are essential for both workshops.
Discover the potential of a kinetic machine called 'automata' to create interesting sculptures. Participants will learn about the mechanical elements of automata (cams, levers, and linkages) first, and build their own simple cardboard automata together with their own movement designs and decorations.
Masterpieces 2k21 - Fantastical Teapot (12-15yrs), Thursday, April 8
CASM is inviting local artists aged 12-15 years to take part in this free workshop with artist Amanda Harris. This is a free event and registrations are essential. Participants can create a wacky, fantastic teapot using terracotta clay. Learn joining, coiling, slab building and embellishing with imprinting and texture as you make and attach small animals and objects to your teapot.
Masterpieces 2K21 - Create a Beastie (16-25yrs) Friday, April 9
CASM is inviting local artists aged 16-25 years to take part in this free workshop with artist Amanda Harris. This is a free event and registrations are essential. Using terracotta clay, participants can learn joining, modelling, embellishing and texturing.
