Food business requirements
Learn about the registration/notification process for food businesses, along with other necessary approvals and requirements.
The City of Mandurah's Health team works with you to ensure local businesses, environments, and public spaces meet high safety standards. Whether you are starting a cafe or reporting a neighbourhood nuisance, we are here to help.
If you have concerns about food safety or wish to report an issue with food purchased within the City, you can lodge a complaint through our portal.
How to prepare your complaint:
Preserve the sample: Wrap the food in plastic and store it in your freezer for potential testing.
Keep your receipt: This acts as vital evidence of purchase.
See a doctor: If you suspect illness caused by the food, consult your doctor for diagnosis and testing.
Our Health Services team protects the community by:
Carrying out unannounced hygiene assessments of all food businesses on a regular basis.
Investigating complaints related to unsafe food handling.
Sampling locally produced foods to compare them against National Standards.
Taking legal action where breaches of food legislation occur.
Recreational water quality
The City regularly monitors recreational water sites across Mandurah to ensure they are safe for swimming and other water activities. Monitoring helps protect against sewage spills, algal blooms and other health-related incidents.
If you have concerns about water quality at a local beach, estuary or waterway, let us know.
