Do I need to register?

A food business is any entity - commercial, charitable, community or home-based - that is involved in the handling of food intended for sale, or the sale of food, even if it only involves a one-off occasion. This includes food trucks, food stalls, commercial premises, and home businesses.

Some food businesses don't need to be registered, but all food businesses must still notify the City. Even if you're exempt from registration, you must complete the notification process and comply with all food regulations and standards.

Notification only

  • Sausage sizzles or soft drinks sold for charity
  • Only selling sealed, low risk pre-packaged items (cereal, soft drinks, lollies)
  • Offering free soft drinks as part of another service

Registration required

  • Restaurants, cafés, takeaways
  • Food trucks and mobile vans
  • Home kitchens
  • Child care & aged care food service
  • Charity stalls with potentially hazardous food

How to register or notify

How to cancel a food business registration

If you're selling or closing your business, you must cancel your food business registration.  

Select your preferred lodgement method below: 

  • Online (preferred): submit your application along with the relevant required documentation to (PDF forms are not required for this option)

Alternate methods:

  • In person: Download and complete the form below and submit at the City of Mandurah, 3 Peel Street
  • Mail: Download and complete the form below and mail to PO Box 210, Mandurah WA 6210
