Wind and Story - Maar and Wonga

Wind and Story brings together Mandurah Concert Band, members of our local Bindjareb community, and acclaimed didgeridoo artists James Webb for a deeply engaging musical experience that honours both First Nations and Western traditions. 

The concert will open with a Welcome to Country, grounding audiences in the stories and spirit of the Bindjareb region. Audiences will hear a rich blend of contemporary wind ensemble works, including pieces by Aboriginal composers, alongside Australian compositions that explore themes of place, identity and community. James Webb's didgeridoo performance adds a powerful sonic layer, weaving ancient resonance with modern ensemble texture. 

This event invites audiences to listen, reflect and celebrate the meeting of cultures through music, poetry and shared experience. Warm, accessible and community-focused with a sausage sizzle and other free community activities, this performance offers a rare opportunity to experience cross-cultural collaboration in a welcoming and meaningful setting.
