Public Participation

The public are allowed to participate in and contribute to the decision-making process in the following ways:

Public Question Time

At each Planning Committee and Council meeting, 15 minutes is made available for public question time. So we can provide a full response to your question, complete and submit a public question time form.

Deputations

Deputations give you the opportunity to express your views on a proposal that is listed on the agenda. To make a deputation, complete a deputation application form that includes:
  • Advice on how to complete and submit your deputation application form
  • The deadline for the submission of your deputation application
  • Extracts from the City’s Standing Orders Local Law 2016 about making a deputation.

Public Statement Time

Public statements allow you to put forward your views on a matter that is not listed on the agenda. To make a public statement, complete a public statement application form that includes:

  • Advice on how to complete and submit your public statement application form
  • The deadline for the submission of your public statement application
  • Extracts from the City’s Standing Orders Local Law 2016 about making a public statement.

Petitions

Petitions are formal written requests of Council, signed by more than 4 people. Download a petition form and follow the instructions to complete the content. 

When received, we will:
  • Arrange for an Elected Member to present the petition to Council.
  • Write to the petition organiser letting them know details of the arrangements made.
